The Tiny Piano Pilot
Thank you for your interest in the Tiny Piano Pilot Program!
This pilot program is designed to gently guide young learners before they are ready for full piano lessons. The information below will help you understand what the program offers and determine whether it is the right fit for your family.
The curriculum was developed in response to parent requests for a program that bridges the gap between early musical curiosity and readiness for a full 30-minute private lesson. You do not need prior musical experience — no knowledge of note-reading or piano keys is required. This method teaches both you and your child step-by-step, helping you become their first musical resource with confidence.
The lessons are designed to work even without a traditional full-sized piano. Students can learn effectively using a toy piano with at least 24 keys, helping remove financial barriers to beginning music education. This allows young learners to start building essential skills right away, while families can take their time deciding when (or whether) to invest in a larger instrument. Lessons will introduce concepts such as:
-
Rests and their durations
-
Note names
-
How to find notes on the musical staff
-
Composers in Western art music
-
Famous compositions and musical works
If you do have access to a full 88-key piano, learning on a complete instrument often makes the experience even more engaging and enjoyable for both parent and child.
This program is intentionally designed for at-home learning, without the need for outside assistance from a teacher. Everything you need will be included in your weekly materials. Because this is a pilot, your feedback at each stage is not only welcome but deeply appreciated — your experience will directly shape the final version of the program.
